Have you ever stopped to think how many shots you play under 60 yards (including putts) every time you play a round of golf? We’d guess it’s a higher percentage of your total score than you probably thought.

Having a good short game can make a big difference to your golf. Yes we all want to smash one down the fairway every time, but the reality is most golf mortals will spend more time scrambling to make a score than anything else when we play.

A good short game is often the difference between a chip and putt for par and an unwelcome bogie. It’s about walking into a greenside bunker with confidence that all is not lost! It’s about thinking 60 yard wedge –  No problem. It’s about knowing when you’re standing over the ball that your chip and run will finish inside 10 feet every time. If you can walk up to these shots with confidence, it unlocks a whole other level of golf you can achieve.

Our new short game area is designed to help you develop a strong short game and backup plan if things don’t work out with your longer shots. If you can stay positive, then scores drop. That’s a fact.

Ground cleared and drains laid, an expert team from South West Greens has started the next phase of building our new short game area at Sherdons Golf Centre.

Unique to Southwest Greens is their Pro System. Extensively researched, their Pro System technology truly replicates the response of a natural green.

The secret is not only the shaping design of the green, but the eight layered construction; incorporating various layers of multiple sized crushed stone, shock underlay padding, their trademark turf and finally an all-important layer of silica sand infill.
